in Italy the scout associations are 3...mine is AGESCI, the Association of Italian and Catholic Scouts and Guides.


scouts between 8 and 12 years are "LUPETTI OR COCCINELLE". between 12 and 16 are "ESPLORATORI E GUIDE", between 16 and 21 are "ROVERS AND SCOLTES"

I'm in CNGEI, the lay one...



We are divided in Lupetti (8-12 years old), Esploratori (12-16) and Rover (16-19).

I'm in Agesci too....in my city there isn't the CNGEI association, but there is Fse (I don't know the english translation, sorry)....what are the differences between Agesci and Cngei? I only know that we are catholic and you not....are there other differences?

The Associazione Guide e Scouts Cattolici Italiani (AGESCI, Association of Catholic Guides and Scouts of Italy), founded in 1974, is a Catholic Guiding and Scouting association in Italy. AGESCI is coeducational and has more than 170,000 members.

Founders of AGESCI were the Associazione Scout Cattolici Italiani (ASCI, Association of Italian Catholic Scouts, founded in 1916) and the Associazione Guide Italiane (AGI, Association of Italian Guides, founded in 1943).

The association is a member of the Federazione Italiana dello Scautismo, Italy's national member of the World Organization of the Scout Movement and of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts.

Affiliated to AGESCI are the Südtiroler Pfadfinderschaft, the Catholic Scout association of the German-speaking minority in South Tyrol,[1] and the Slovenska Zamejska Skavtska Organizacija (SZSO) serving Slovenians in Friuli-Venezia Giulia.[2]

In 1986, Pope John Paul II was given the Wood Badge insignia as a honorary AGESCI leader.

Alleposte, excuse me if I correct your sentence, but in Italy we have got more than 3 associations!
The FIS (Italian Scout Federation) recognize AGESCI and CNGEI and affiliate them to WOSM (or OMMS).
Then we have got many other little associations, many times not confessional, formed by a few number of groups (e.g: Boy Scout Lombardi, Scout Sardi, Sudtirol scout, Assorider, Rangers...)

AGESCI is the most frequented association, follewed by CNGEI. The first is a catholic association, birth in Italy by the fusion of ASCI (Italian Catholic Boy Scout Association) and AGI (the Catholic Girl Association) in 1974.
